“This year I’ve baked bread, made thirty one peg-dolls as well as hotpot and Manchester Tart. The children are amazed at what they achieve”.

Are you 50+? Do you live in Trafford and want to make a difference in your community?

Then we would love to hear from you. Our volunteers range in ages from 50 to well into their 80’s and come from all walks of life.
You don’t need to be an expert to be useful. All that the children (and teachers) will want from you is a big smile, a willingness to learn, share and have fun.
In return, you will gain friends of all ages, a reason to get up in the morning and perhaps even a new lease of life.

What our volunteers get up to

Our volunteers appreciate being useful and learning from other cultures. Many discover a whole new way of learning and they enjoy the challenge.
As one of our volunteers sums it up. “It’s the best day of the week, I just love going in and helping with these young children. I often see them out and about too and they always wave to me.”

How it works

We take care of you

We provide all our volunteers with a “handbook” which contains lots of information to help you make your time at the school enjoyable, safe, rewarding and of course fun. Your area coordinator and your school liaison contact person are always on hand to discuss any concerns that you may have. Our schools love having volunteers and you will soon become a valued and indispensable member to the teachers, the children and through them the local community.

From time to time our volunteers enjoy a “get together” event. These are opportunities for them to exchange ideas, make new friends, be entertained by children and enjoy some social time. For us it is our way of saying “thank you”.
